This property derives its name from the layout of the hillside slopes, distinguished by captivating dry stone walls that support terraces of varying sizes. These terraces serve as the canvas for the strategic planting of grapevines and olive trees, matched to the distinctive qualities of the soil. When observed from a distance, these terraces create the illusion of a series of ascending steps, gracefully ascending the slopes of the Ruffoli hill.
This Chianti Classico from Podere Poggio Scalette stands as the ultimate representation of its terroir and the grape varieties that form its blend, with a primary focus on the Sangiovese from Ruffoli, a magical hillside in Chianti Classico situated in Greve in Chianti. Its notable strength lies in the fresh aromas it exudes and the pure delight it imparts to those who savour it. On the nose it presents the typical hints of violet, cherry and red fruits, while on the palate it surprises with juiciness and a powerful acidity, with a pleasantly savory finish and tannins perfectly integrated into the sip.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
